Germany warns Iran of new UN sanctions

Germany has warned Iran of new UN sanctions after Tehran announced plans for 10 uranium enrichment sites in defiance of international demands. Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said Iran must know the world's patience was not endless and Tehran must fulfill its international commitments. In a statement in Berlin, Mr Westerwelle said Iran's announcement of the expansion of its uranium enrichment clearly goes in the wrong direction. He urged Iran to co-operate with the International Atomic Energy Agency without ifs and buts and to fulfill its international commitments. Germany has – along with the US, UK, France, China and Russia – been involved in co-coordinating the UN Security Council's position on Iran.
