Germany has reiterated its appeal to India to sign the CTBT but said it would support its membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group(NSG). German Ambassador to India Thomas Matussek said in New Delhi today that Germany is very much supportive of India getting membership of the nuclear fuel control regime, but would like the country to do its part in signing the non-proliferation treaty. He said Germany very much appreciated India's non-proliferation record. The Ambasador pointed out that German Chancellor Angela merkel had promised India to liberalise the export regime and it was done a week before her visit. He said that now Germany will be treating India like any EU country.Mr Matussek said his country is also looking for deepening defence cooperation with India, including technology transfer in defence equipments.The German Ambassador said the outcome of Ms merkel's visit to India has been very positive to both the countries and they would be working in close cooperation within the framework of the UNSC and G4.
