Germany enter semi-finals of Euro Football championship defeating Italy

Germany has entered the semi-finals of UEFA Euro Football Championship. In the last-8 fixture at Bordeaux last night, the reigning world champions defeated Italy 6-5 on penalties, their first victory over the Azzurri in 9 matches at a major tournament.The score was 1-1 at regulation and extra time, with Mesut Ozil scoring for the Germans and Leonardo Bonucci making it square 12 minutes from time.Germany missed 3 penalties in the shootout – the most in their history, but were successful in keeping their nearly 40 year old Euro record of not losing in a penalty shoot-out intact.In the semi-finals, Germany will take on the winner of tonight's fourth quarter-final between hosts France and debutants Iceland. The match will be played in Paris at 12:30 AM Indian Time.Portugal and Wales will meet in the other semi-final.The last-4 stage begins on Wednesday. The Final is slated for next Sunday.
