In Tamil Nadu, in a swift operation officers of the Central and State Intelligence Agencies detained a German national in Nagercoil for his alleged links with the group heading the anti- Kooddankulam agitation. Our correspondent quoting police sources said the German national was brought to Chennai and deported to his country in the early hours this morning.
Meanwhile a four member expert committee constituted by the State Government to look into the safety aspects of Kooddankulam nuclear power project and allay the apprehension of the local population, is to submit its report to the Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalitha in Chennai today. The convenor of the committee Prof. Iniyan said final touches to the report were given in the last two days.
The committee visited the nuclear power project site making an on- the- spot assessment of the safety mechanism in place besides holding discussions with representatives of the group spearheading the anti-Kooddankulam movement.
