The top NATO and US Commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David Patreaus has asked for an additional two thousand soldiers to join his forces there. Nearly half the extra troops would be used to train the Afghan forces. NATO says the force was needed to meet the goal of developing Afghanistan's capacity to take over the country's security.
