Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to agitating Gujjar leaders to begin talks with the state government representatives. Talking to news persons in Jaipur, he said, the Committee of Ministers has begun its work on collecting data about the social, educational and economic backwardness for Special Backward Classes in the state. Mr. Gehlot said, his government wants to complete the process of giving reservation to SBCs as soon as possible. He also expressed hope that the agitation will come to an end soon. The Principal Secretary level committee is waiting in Bayana for the Gujjar delegation to come and initiate a dialogue to resolve the issue. The Power Minister and a member of three member Minister level committee Dr. Jintendra Singh has also reached Bayana to participate in the talks. AIR correspondent prem Bharti reports that the talks between the committee and Gujjar leaders may begin today. It is learnt that Gujjar leader Col. Kirodi Singh Bainsla has agreed to send a delegation to Bayana to hold talks with the Secretary level committee. Meanwhile, Gujjar agitation continues to affect the normal life. Bandh is being observed in Jhalawar, Jhalrapatan, Alwar, Hindauli and Sikandara by the Gujjar protestors today. Rail and road transport is badly affected following which passengers are facing great difficulty. The agitators blocked the Kota-Jaipur highway at Hindauli, throwing the transport services on this important route out of gear. The industry is also suffering heavy losses due to the agitation. According to the Chairman of Federation of Rajasthan Trade and Industry, the total loss is estimated to be 300 crore rupees, out of which 100 crore is in tourism industry alone. One major reason of this is that the Gujjar agitation is taking place during the peak season as far as tourism industry is concerned.
