The Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia has said with the economic growth momentum returning, the GDP growth is expected to be around 8.5 per cent for 2010-11 and a nine per cent growth in the subsequent fiscal. Addressing the 'Maharashtra Economic Summit' in Mumbai he said the Indian economy has shown a very good resilience. Admitting that food price inflation is a cause of concern, Dr Ahluwalia attributed it to the exaggerated reports on the drought conditions as one of the reasons. However, with the rabi prospects looking good, he expected the food price inflation to ease within the next couple of months.Dr Ahluwalia said the Planning Commission will meet on the 20th of this month for a mid-term appraisal of the 11th Five year plan.
