GCC wants Yemeni president Saleh to step down

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al-Thani has said that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) hopes to reach a deal with the Yemeni president to step down. The statement of Sheikh Thani came after Ambassadors from GCC countries have delivered invitations to Saleh and the opposition to attend proposed talks in Riyadh expected to take place soon. According to Yemen’s official news agency SABA, Yemeni president Saleh yesterday welcomed Gulf mediation, saying he affirms the necessity of a serious and fruitful dialogue to overcome the current crisis.In a statement on 2nd April , the opposition demanded the establishment of temporary national unity government led by the opposition and encompassing all political parties, youth, and businessmen.
