The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and European Union foreign ministers have stressed that Muammar Gaddafi's regime has lost legitimacy and expressed support for the Transitional National Council as a legitimate interlocutor representing the Libyan people. The two sides pledged support for the rebels , fighting to dislodge the regime of Muammar Gaddafi. In a statement after a joint meeting between GCC foreign ministers and their European Union counterparts in Abu Dhabi last evening, they called for an immediate and genuine ceasefire in Libya. The ministers also expressed deep concern about the humanitarian crisis in Libya.
