Gautam Gambhir returned to India's Test squad after two years in place of injured Lokesh Rahul for the last two matches of the Cricket Test series against New Zealand. Board of Control for Cricket in India announced this in a press release last night. Rahul had injured his right hamstring during the first Test in Kanpur and will be unable to play in the two matches agianst New Zealand. Pace spearhead Ishant Sharma, who was ruled out of first Test due to chikungunya, will miss the second match as well starting from Friday at the Eden Gardens. Uncapped Haryana off-spinner Jayant Yadav was named as his replacement.
