Young guns of Indian badminton began their campaign at the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold, starting with the qualifiers,in Johor Bahru, on Wednesday. Gaurav Venkat of India won the men's singles qualifier against Zheng Lai Ee 21-9, 21-12. Indian shuttlers, however, lost three men's doubles qualifiers and one men's singles qualifier.Top Indian shuttlers, including Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu and Parupalli Kashyap, have decided to skip the event after back-to-back tournaments. In their absence, other young crops to lead the Indian challenge will be H S Prannoy, Sai Praneeth, RMV Gurusaidutt, Sourabh Varma and Arundhati Pantawane.
