The Gauhati High Court by an order on Wednesday stayed the orders of the Governor of Assam of suspension of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council and the declaration of the special session of the Council as illegal. <br/> <br/>Justice I A Ansari after hearing three writ petitions filed by challenging both the orders passed by the Governor of Assam passed the interim order staying both the orders of the Governor.<br/> <br/>The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council was initially placed under suspension by the Governor by an order 12th June last year as per the provision of para 16 (2) of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India. <br/>
