Special sensors for detecting leak of gases are being developed by a team of scientists .This is to minimize the possibility of disasters like the infamous Bhopal gas tragedy. According to official sources the Department of Science and Technology has entrusted the project to a team of physicists at the Motile Nehru National Institute of Technology in Allahabad.<br/>Scientists say preliminary study has suggested that zinc oxide is a very suitable agent. Films made of this compound react with the chemical space of the gas present in any surrounding which helps in detection. <br/>
