Ministry for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharati today said that the Ganga river would be cleaned up by July, 2018. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Ms Bharati said, the government is working in this direction. <br/><br/>She said, various types of pollution abatement schemes taken up to clean the Ganga. The schemes include creation of interception and diversion of sewage discharging into the river and creating treatment infrastructure. She said, comprehensive afforestation along the river will act as a biological filter to reduce the pollution load to river Ganga and at the same time it will help recharge ground water. <br/><br/>Mrs Bharati said a detailed projected report amounting to 1600 crore rupees has been prepared to take up the afforestation work. She also said taht her Ministry is concerned about the pollution level in Godavari, Cauvery and Krishna rivers and they also be cleaned up.
