Ganesh Utsav begins with lot of enthusiasm and devotion in M'rashtra

The traditional festival of Maharashtra, Ganesh Utsav is beginning today with lot of enthusiasm and devotion. Mumbaikars are all set to welcome their favourite god who will stay there in the houses and pandals for the next eleven days. Our correspondent reports that all security arrangements have been made for peaceful passage of the festival.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, Mumbaikars have already started to celebrate this festival as many devotees have brought the Ganesh idol yesterday in their houses and pandals and today they are getting ready to welcome the lord with the aarti and naivaidya.<br/><br/>While there are devotees who will bring the idol today amid music and dance and processions will be seen on many roads in the city and everybody will be cheering and praising the lord saying Ganpati Bappa Morya. Mumbai police are implementing various measures to ensure the peace during the festival. They have prepared a road map for the festival starting from today. <br/><br/>The department has instructed its men to focus on the priorities identified to prevent the festivities from going wayward. In a press conference by joint commissioner of police (traffic) Milind Bharambe and joint commissioner of police (law and order) Deven Bharti, the senior officers assured Mumbaikars of deploying enough personnel in the city for the festival. <br/><br/>The police have also cancelled leaves of its personnel, with around 35,000-plus men in khaki put on bandobast duties from today. Personnel of the Quick Response Team, Rapid Action Force, and State Reserve Police Force have also been deployed for security. They will also be assisted by volunteers from National Cadet Corps, Scout and Guide, and NGOs. <br/><br/>The police has stressed on anti-terror measures and women's safety. For the first time, the entire route taken by Lalbaugcha Raja will be under surveillance of CCTVs, closely monitored from the control room. The police have also ensured that the process of registration and permissions for sarvajanik Ganesh pandals in city is smooth. <br/><br/>There will be around two lakh ganesh idols in the city which includes one and half day, five days, seven days and ten days Ganpati. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed the security situation yesterday and also instructed the civic authorities to ensure the adequate water supply for the festival.
