Tha Ganesh immersion ceremonies got-off to a jubilant start today in Mumbai, amidst the chants of devotees pleading their beloved god to come again soon. The immersion processions of famous Ganesha idols like Lalbaughcha Raja and the Ganesha of Ganesh Galli have started. The idols are stopping at various places en route for the devotees to take lord Ganesha’s blessings. Along with the Ganesh mandal idols, domestic idols are also being immersed at Girgaon Chowpati, Dadar Chowpati, Juhu Chowpati, Pawai lake, along with the 19 artificial lakes set up by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Police are out in full strength all over the city and suburbs for the immersion ceremonies that kicked off in the morning in most areas with many small family and hand-held idols arriving at various immersion sites. Seventy ambulances have been deployed across the city to take care of injuries or any other mishaps that might take place during the immersions. Elaborate traffic arrangements have also been made with suitable diversions and one way routes to ensure that processions of Ganesh idols are not hampered or delayed as they wend their way to various immersion sites. Metal detectors, closed circuit television cameras, hand-held metal detectors, road blocks, loudspeakers and floodlights have been installed at most of the venues to ensure the immersion ceremonies pass off without any untoward incident. Care has also been taken to make proper health and cleanliness arrangements.
