The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi began today with traditional fervour and enthusiasm in different parts of the country. In Maharashtra, Mumbaikars welcome the God of good luck and prosperity- Lord Ganesha into their homes and community pandals kick starting the 10-day celebrations. The festival began with devotees taking part in Aarti at several temples including the famous Siddhi Vinayak temple at Prabhadevi in South Mumbai. <br/><br/>President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion. In his message, President Pranab Mukherjee hoped that the Lord Ganesha, remove all obstacles on the path of progress and prosperity of the nation. He asked the people to dedicate the day for building a strong and vibrant nation.<br/><br/>Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari said, Lord Ganesh is revered as an embodiment of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune in the country. He added, invoking Lord Ganesh before start of any good work and project is a common practice. Mr Ansari hoped that this festival will bring peace, harmony and prosperity in the country. In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted the people and hoped that the blessings of Lord Ganesh always remain with everyone.<br/><br/>In Gujarat, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated with religious fervor. People and different social and cultural groups have organized Ganpati Mahotsav at public places and even at home. Cities like Ahmedad Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot have witnessed processions of Ganpati Sthapna during the day.
