The President has said that Gandhian values of truth, peace and non -violence are relevant for the whole world even today. These are the values which Gandhiji not only strongly advocated but also ardently observed throughout his life. Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil paid homage at the statue of the father of the nation on his birth anniversary at Ariana Park in Geneva on Sunday.

This statue was unveiled at the Avenue of Peace in 1997 to mark the 50th anniversary of the treaty of friendship and establishment between India and Switzerland in August 1948- the first such treaty that independent India signed.
