In Bihar, turbulent river Gandak has breached at Saran embankment in Gopalgunj district of the state. The five meter embankment was washed away at Batardeh village in the district. Over two lakh people have evacuated and moved to safer places. Disaster Management Principal Secretary told AIR that heavy machines are pressed into service to construct a 500 feet long retired line (a mud embankment behind the bandh). Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the required personnel have reached the site for relief and rehabilitation work.
