Galle Test: Pandya powers India to 600 with fifty on debut

Hardik Pandya powered India to 600 in their first innings with fifty on debut on day two of the first Test at Galle, Sri Lanka, today. In reply, the hosts were struggling with154 for 5 at stumps. India began the day at a solid 399 for three and added 201 runs to their overnight total. Pandya with 50 off 49 balls and Mohammad Shami 30 off 30 balls added 62 runs for the ninth wicket to help India reach the 600-run mark. For Sri Lanka, Nuwan Pradeep claimed 6 wickets, giving away 132 runs and three wickets were taken by Lahiru Kumara for 131 runs. Pacer Umesh Yadav provided India the early breakthrough. Mohammed Shami claimed two wickets. Upul Tharanga with 64 and Angelo Mathews with 54 were at the crease at the close of the second day.
