India have avoided an innings defeat gaining a lead of 48 runs against Srilanka at lunch on the final day of the first Cricket test at Galle. The visitors were made to follow on by the Lankans who bowled them out for 276 runs in the first innings. India have however managed to score 292 runs at lunch with two more crucial wickets in hand. V.V.S Laxman who has completed his fifty and Ishant Sharma were at the crease when reports last came in. Lankan Spin wizard Muttiah Mulalidharan is just one wicket short of the magic record figure of 800 wickets in test cricket. Srilanka had declared their first innings scoring 520 runs for the loss of 8 wickets .
