India's Gold rush in the Commonwealth Games continued for the second consecutive day as shooters, weightlifters and wrestlers got the hosts six more golds on Wednesday.World champion Gagan Narang led the shooting team in its gold medal hunt. Gagan set the range on fire winning the gold in 10 meter air rifle competiton with a world record, pushing compatriot Olympian Abhinav Bindra to the second place. The second gold of the day was bagged by Anisa Sayyed in the 25 meters women's pistol event while Omkar Singh clinched the third medal in the 50 meters pistol competition. The junior world champion Asher Noria and World No. 3 Ronjan Sodhi teamed up to net the silver in the men's pairs double trap. Rahi Sarnobat also bagged a silver in the 25 meter women pistol event.Two other golds which came India's way were from weightlifting and wrestling taking the gold tally to ten.In the weightlifting, Renu Bala Chanu won the gold in the women's 58 kilogram category. K. Ravi Kumar bagged the second gold in the 69 kilogram.Wrestler Rajinder Kumar brought laurels for the country by winning gold in 55 kilogram in greco roman category. Manoj kumar bagged the silver while Sunil kumar and Dharmender Dalal got bronze medals in wrestling.In badminton, India outclassed Wales 5-0 in the mixed team event.In tennis, Somdev Devvarman and Sania Mirza, Rushmi Chakravarthy have entered the quaterfinals in the singles event. Rushmi Chakravarthy shocked third seed Katie O”Brien of England to enter the last eight stage. In Women's doubles, Sania Mirza and Rushmi Chakravarthy moved into the semifinals. However, Rohan Bopanna lost to second seed Australian Peter luczak.In the Archery, Indian women team knocked out their arch rival Australia to qualify for the semifinals. Indian trio Gagandeep Kaur, Jhano Hansdah and Bheigyabati Chanu defeated their Australian counterpartsIn women's hockey, it was a disppointment for India as the hosts lost to Australia by 1-2.In cycling Australian Megan Dunn won the women's 25km points race today. England bagged gold and silver in men's individual all-round gymnastics . Indian swimmer Prasanth Karmakar created history by winning the first ever medal in the pool, getting the bronze in 50 meters free style in para spor. Para sport swimmer Sachin Verma has also entered the final of 50 meters S9 Freestyle men's category. Meanwhile, The Indian Medals winner's will make a windfall, as more cash awards have been announced by Railways and Sports ministry. Earlier, Petroleum and Commerce ministry had announced cash awards. Sports minister M S Gill has commended Indian athletes for their stupendous performance and sounded optimistic about the chances of the hosts in remaining events of the games.
