Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Mr. Nitin Gadkari has reiterated the commitment of the BJP-led Government at the Centre for Good Governance and Antyodaya, the two major promises contained in the party manifesto at the time of last General Elections. <br/><br/>He said that the Modi Government has taken a lot of initiatives through e-Governance, but more work needs to be done in this regard so as to ensure more people-oriented, effective and transparent administration for resolution of various problems and address grievances in a time-bound manner. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Nineteenth National Conference on e-Governance which began in Nagpur today.<br/> <br/>Union Minister of State attached with the Prime Minister's Office and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh called for more citizen-centric measures to push administrative reforms to fulfill the commitment of the welfare state. He also stressed the need for empowerment of youth in order to enable them to avail advantage of demographic dividend.<br/><br/>Dr. Singh mentioned some of the landmark decisions of the Union Government like self-certification of documents and abolition of personal interviews for recruitment of Group 'C' and 'D' posts and some Group 'B' posts as well which have helped promote reforms in a big way. He also assured that the suitable changes would be made in the syllabus of the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission with a view to provide level playing field for the candidates belonging to various streams.<br/><br/>Earlier, the two-day conference organized by the Union Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and Department of Electronics and Information Technology in association with the Government of Maharashtra began with the first plenary session on Governance with Accountability Transparency & Innovation for Citizen-Centric Services. <br/><br/>The conference has total six plenary sessions on topics such as, Financial Inclusion- Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile and Direct Benefit Transfer, Urban Governance in Smart Cities, Cyber Security Framework for Citizen Centric Services and also the Decade of e-Governance – Way Ahead and Technology Enabled Education. <br/><br/>The annual conference serves as an effective forum for IT professionals of the Central and State Governments, Software Solution Providers and the Industry to interact and analyse various solution frameworks. Many new initiatives in e-Governance have emerged out of these conferences.
