Gadkari invites UAE investors for infra development

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today called on the UAE and NRI investors to be part of the two mega initiatives Sagarmala and Bharatmala worth 24 lakh crore rupees. Addressing the India UAE Partnership Summit via a video message, he said, India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the highest priority to infrastructure development. The Highways, Shipping and River Development Minister acknowledged the presence of large number of UAE investors in India. Mr Gadkari informed the audience that there is a great potential in the investment of road sector. He said that there are important projects related to border connectivity, internal ring roads, tribal areas and tourism. Briefing the stakeholders on the Sagarmala and Bharatmala projects, the Minister said, they are expecting the investment of 16 lakh crore rupees including 4 lakh crore rupees for port road connectivity and modernisation of ports. Mr Gadkari said that in the Bharatmala initiative, the government is planning to start projects worth 8 lakh crore rupees within two years. He said that in Sagarmala project, the government has planned for 14 industrial clusters and special economic zones which are going to accelerate the economy. Mr Gadkari said, they have started work worth 1.6 lakh crore rupees in the port sector. The Minister said, the way, they are developing the waterways to bring down the cost, will be a game changer for their industry. In JNPT, one of the 12 major ports in India, he said that the government is planning for special economic zone where it is expecting investment of 6,000 crore rupees besides creation of 1.25 lakh jobs Mr Gadkari also called upon the investors to be part of the Clean Ganga Mission. He also urged the investors to donate for the Clean Ganga Mission. The Minister assured investors of all cooperation from the Indian government. The two day India UAE Partnership Summit was inaugurated today with a theme of Investment- Implementation. More than 500 delegates including Ministers from UAE , Finance Minister of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, Officials, Chambers, Industrialists, Businessmen, Financial Institutions and Diplomats attended the opening day of the India UAE Partnership Summit.
