The Congress today said, the corruption charges against the BJP President Nitin Gadkari are of serious nature. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi said it was unfortunate that senior BJP leaders who are aspiring for the Prime Ministership have openly supported Gadkari.
Mr Alvi said that Gadkari is the second national BJP President facing serious corruption charges after former party president, Bangaru Laxman, who was found guilty by the court. In reply to a question on allegations against Robert Vadra, Mr Alvi said Vadra has nothing to do with the Congress. He also said the Haryana government has given a clean chit to him in land deals after a thorough verfication.
Replying to a question on the reported resignation by External Affairs MInister S M Krishna, the Congress spokesman said it was not in his knowledge.
