BJP President Nitin Gadkari has appealed to the Prime Minister to envisage an implementation policy for bio-fuels in the Country to encourage cultivation of non edible oils like ethanol. He was speaking at the National Conference on Effective implementation of bio fuels programme in Bangalore today. He urged the Central Government to announce tax rebates and incentives to farmers growing non-edible oils. He said the bio-fuel sector will help generate enormous employment in rural areas and convert waste land for productive work. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa said that one lakh hectare of waste land in north Karnataka will be brought under jathropa and honge cultivation and farmers will be paid incentive of Rs.5000 to take up this job.
