Gaddafi forces push rebels from Ras Lanuf

Forces in Libya loyal to Col. Gaddafi have made major gains against rebel troops, pushing them from the port of Ras Lanuf, east of the capital Tripoli. Rebel fighters said the government forces had entered the town by boat and in tanks to take full control of the area. Reports speak of many casualties.European Union leaders are meeting in Brussels to discuss what action to take over Libya. Britain and France have called for preparations to enforce a no fly zone, but other countries have been more cautious. None so far has followed France in recognising Libya's self-proclaimed National Council as the country's legitimate authority.
