Gaddafi forces carry out air strike in eastern Libya

Forces loyal to Col. Gaddafi have carried out an air strike in eastern Libya close to a military base occupied by his opponents. Reports say at least one bomb fell on the outskirts of Ajdabiya to a base where munitions are stored. There are no reports of casualties or damage. In Western Libya, anti-Gaddafi forces in the city of Zawiyah say they have been launching counter attacks but a report from Benghazi says the response from pro-Gaddafi forces continues to be relatively muted. Washington has authorised the use of US military aircraft to help repatriate migrant workers stranded in neighbouring countries after fleeing Libya. The planes will join aircraft from other countries. Meanwhile, British Government Minister Andrew Mitchel has been visiting the Tunisian border. A report from there says after visiting the border itself, Andrew Mitchel toured the transit camp a few miles down the road where up to 18,000 people are being sheltered as they prepare for their journey home. The flow of people from across the border has dropped sharply but Mitchel said satellite pictures suggest there may be thousands more people being held up on the Libyan side, some distance from the border.
