GAAR being revisited, decision to be taken soon: Arun Jaitley <br/>

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that the General Anti Avoidance Rules (GAAR) are being revisited and that a decision on the same will be taken soon. Mr Jaitley said in Mumbai yesterday that a decision regarding the GAAR coming into force will also be looked at afresh. While commenting on how the government is working on trying to fix the Land Acquisition Act, Mr Jaitley said if the navy wanted to set up a facility, it too will have to spend 5-10 years to acquire the land. He said, the government has no problem increasing the compensation, but the procedure cannot remain so complicated. He suggested that one way out is that the set of exemptions must be enlarged and affordable housing, defence and infrastructure projects should be exempted.
