The leaders of world's major economies began discussion on global growth and trade at the G-20 summit at Hamburg in Germany. German Chancellor Angela Merkel formally kick started the summit this afternoon. <br/><br/>Delivering the welcome address she stressed the need to adopt an accommodative and compromising approach to resolve contentious issues. In the first working session of the summit, the leaders are discussing global growth and trade.<br/> <br/>The negotiators at the G-20 are working to forge consensus among them on a number of issues including trade, climate change and migration. They are also likely to discuss conflict in Syria and security threat posed by the missile launch by North Korea among other issues. Later in the day, the leaders are scheduled to discuss in length over sustainable development, climate and energy.<br/><br/>Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with leaders of China, Brazil and South Africa among others on the sidelines of the G20 summit at Hamburg. In a series of tweets, Prime Minister said the role of BRICS is important on issues like climate change and terror. He underlined the need for BRICS to be a voice of stability, reform, progress and governance at the world stage.<br/><br/>Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Gopal Baglay informed that at the BRICS leaders informal gathering hosted by China, Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President, Xi Jinping had a conversation on a range of issues. German Chancellor Angela Merkel formally welcomed Mr Modi at the G20 summit.
