Prime Minister Narendra Modi today arrived in Brisbane on 5-day visit to Australia. The Premier of Queensland Campbell Newman received him at the Airport. He will attend the G20 leaders summit scheduled for tomorrow at Brisbane. Today, the Prime Minister visited Queensland University of Technology to further enhance cooperation in education, particularly technical education between the two countries.
He interacted with students and faculty members of the University. He was given power point presentations by the students on various projects on science and technology. Australia has been a favorite destination for Indian students for years and about 36 thousand students are enrolled in various streams in different Universities in this country.
Now universities of both the countries are on collaborative move to enhance the number of research scholars for higher and advance studies. The students of India and Australia have so far completed over 100 research projects .Major areas of research perused by the students are management, mining and taxation. In the evening, Mr Modi will discuss bilateral issues with Prime Ministers of UK and Japan.
Before leaving for Australia to attend G-20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded the three day visit of Myanmar. During his stay in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, the Prime Minister apart from attending the 12th ASEAN-India and 9th East Asia Summits, also had several bilateral meetings with ASEAN leaders. He had very fruitful meetings with Chinese, Russian, Malaysian Prime Ministers and Heads of various ASEAN countries.
During his meetings, Mr Modi informed the leaders of various ASEAN Countries about his Governments' initiative of launching Make in India Campaign. The Prime Minister called upon the ASEAN Countries and the World to join India in this Campaign saying that there are ample opportunities in India for the World Companies to invest for their economic prosperity.
The highlight of Mr. Modi’s successful visit to Mayanmar can be gauged from the fact that all the ASEAN leaders were all the praise for his Make in India Campaign with some of them showing their keen interest to launch similar type of campaign in their countries. The Prime Minister also reiterated his Governments' intention to work for making India’s Act East Policy action oriented. He interacted with members of Indian Community at a reception hosted in his honour by Indian Embassy. He said that the whole world is now seeing India through a changed eye.
Mr. Modi said that eyes of the world community are focused towards India as a new era of development has started taking place in the country. The Prime Minister said that India has to play a key role in the region adding that it wants to take all its neighbors together on path to development and progress.
