G20 member countries made presentations on their best practices about Water Resources Management on Day 1 of 2nd ECSWG Meet at Gandhinagar

The G20 member countries on 27th March 2023, Monday made presentations on their best practices about Water Resources Management on the first day of the second Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group meeting which is being held under India's G20 presidency. The three-day meeting has been organised at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.<br />'' <br />'' Around 130 delegates from G20 member countries along with 11 invitee countries and 14 international organisations are participating in the three-day event.<br />'' <br />''The meeting focuses on thematic areas like arresting land degradation, Accelerating ecosystem restoration and enriching biodiversity, Encouraging resource efficiency and Circular economy and Promoting a sustainable and climate-resilient Blue economy.<br />'' <br />''Earlier, Talking exclusively to AIR News, Special Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Debashree Mukherjee said that the meeting mainly focuses on water resources management as it is very important in the context of climate change. She said, G20 countries including Italy and China shared their best practices on water management. Ms Mukherjee added that during the meeting, Italy shared its best practices on Drought management while China on Groundwater management.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Our correspondent reports that as part of the meeting, an excursion and site visit was organised for the delegates to witness a mix of modernity and tradition of the country. The delegates were taken on an excursion to Adalaj Stepwell where they witnessed the country's ancient water management practices. Besides they also visited Sabarmati Siphon for a demonstration of India's engineering prowess. Later they were taken on a site visit to the Sabarmati River Front to witness the waste Water management practices.</span><br />
