G20 India: Over 100 delegates, International Organisations participate in 3rd Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting

The 3rd Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) under India's G20 Presidency began in Mumbai yesterday. Over 100 delegates representing G20 member countries, special invitee countries and International Organisations like International Energy Agency (IEA), World Bank and World Energy Council India are participating in the three-day meeting. Under India's Presidency, four ETWG meetings have been planned. The first two ETWG meetings were held in Bengaluru and Gandhinagar.<br />''<br />''Secretary in Ministry of Power Alok Kumar reiterated that India aims to increase its renewable energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030. He mentioned that the country has set a target to achieve 50 percent of energy requirements from Renewable Sources by 2030. On the side-lines of the ETWG meeting, a Seminar on Just Transition Roadmap was organised by the Union Ministry of Coal under the guidance of Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena. The seminar focused on key challenges and opportunities associated with just transition, focusing on aspects such as renewable energy deployment, energy access, job creation and social inclusion.<br />
