G K Vasan to Kerala: Divert more cargo to non-major ports

Union Minister of Shipping G K Vasan has urged Kerala to divert more cargo to its non-major ports by utilizing its coastal and inland waterways. He was addressing the Emerging Kerala Investor's Meet in Kochi today.
The union minister said the proposal of the Kerala government to set up a major port at Azheekkal is under active consideration of the government. A technical committee set up to study its feasibility has submitted its report , which is being examined by the union government.
He said that the center will extend all possible assistance for the Vizhinjam port, which is being developed by the state government.
Mr Vasan said the Kadalur Point Light House and Vizhinjam Light House in Kerala have been selected for development as tourist centers.
