Former Union Minister G.K.Vasan today quit the Congress. Talking to reporters in Chennai, Mr.Vasan announced that he will float a new party in a day or two. Mr. Vasan said that he was not satisfied with the functioning of the party at the regional level.

Later, Congress expelled Mr Vasan from the party. Party spokesperson Ajoy Kumar told media personnel in New Delhi that Mr Vasan has been expelled for making inappropriate comments against the party. Mr Kumar said, Congress has not received his resignation as yet
