Former Union Minister and senior congress leader G.K.Vasan has said that he will announce his next political move on the 3rd of this month. Speaking to newspersons at Chennai on Saturday Vasan told that the Congress Party had taken a unilateral decision without consulting regional leaders on the issue of printing membership cards. He had objected to decisions taken at the highest level without the knowledge of the regional leadership.
Former Union Minister thanked the Congress President Mrs.Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for giving him a post as the regional chief of the party and also the post of a Union Minister.
G.K.Vasan said that it was imperative to implement the feelings of party workers at the grassroot level for the betterment of the Party.
It is to be noted that Mr. Vasan’s father G.K.Moopanar had launched the Tamil Maanila Congress after the death of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi objecting to the decision on political alliance taken by former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.
Rao had taken a decision to make an alliance with the AIADMK party which swept the assembly polls in 1991 after which the party was never able to regain to its original position in the state politics.
Mr. B.S. Gnanadesikan, an ardent supporter of Mr.Vasan had tendered resignation as the TNCC President two days back. The Congress Party had nominated former Union Minister Mr. E.V K.S. Elangovan for the second time as the regional Chief.
