The G-77 group of countries and China have criticised a Danish draft proposal for an agreement on climate change, saying it threatens the success of the ongoing Copenhagen summit. The Head of G-77 Group, Lumumba Stanislas Dia Ping of Sudan said, the draft text, which was leaked is serious and unfortunate development. He called on the Prime Minister of Denmark, Lars Rasmussen to not to make any such further attempts.

The Chairperson also noted that Danish Draft detracted from both the substance and procedure of previous agreed pacts under the United Nations Framework Convention and the Bali Action Plan which put all binding mitigation commitment soley on developed nations. UN climate change chief Yvo de Boer, however, said that this draft was on a decision paper put forward by Danish Prime Minister.
He also said that this draft has not been official introduced. Negotiators from 192 countries have come to Copenhagen to hammer out a climate change treaty as the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012.
