Leading economists on Saturday favoured future belongs to India, not China if dynamism and pluralism come. Professor Stephen Chan, OBE, Department of Politics and International Studies, SOAS University of London, said, the future belongs to both India and China and one can expect a shift in the economic power in Asia. India today needs a robust education system and requires to build an infrastructure that will be the catalyst of growth for the country. Professor Deepak Lal, University of California, Los Angeles, spoke in favour of India and believes that the country is in the second stage of its economic reforms and has a brighter future in the coming years. While, Professor Rana Mitter, Professor of the History and Politics of Modern China, University of Oxford, was of the view that China, in the coming years, will possess superior powers than its Asian counterpart.
