The Centre assured that funds will not be a constrain for the reconstruction process of the disaster hit states in the country. Winding up the debate on Disaster management in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Home Minister Mr. P Chidambaram said with India's robust economic growth, international financial agencies are ready to grant funds for relief and rehabilitation of the people hit by disasters. He asserted that there is no discrimination among states and both Andhra and Karnataka have been provided five hundred crore rupees each for immediate relief and rest will be released after the supplementary grants are adopted by Parliament. The Minister said that immediate action should be taken at state and district level in a time bound manner to provide immediate relief to those affected by any disaster. Reacting to a suggestion for creating a separate Disaster management Ministry at the Centre, Mr. Chidambaram said that government will give a thought to the proposal. He noted that a proposal to amend the Calamity Relief Fund norm is under consideration of the 13th Finance Commission and the change can be brought only after the commission gives its report.<br/>
