Fund hike for development of Himalayan cultural heritage

The Government has increased the financial assistance for the reservation and development of the Tibetan and Buddhist art and culture in the country. The Ministry of Culture has raised the annual assistance to 30 Lakh rupees for each organization involved in repair, restoration and renovation of ancient Buddhist monasteries of historical and cultural importance. In an official statement released in New Delhi today, the Ministry of Culture said the Government has also hiked the amount for scholarships and teachers’ salaries in Buddhist monasteries. The Ministry said that the assistance has been provided under the scheme of Financial Assistance for the Preservation and Development of Buddhist Tibetan Culture and Art.

Meanwhile, the annual financial assistance for development of the Cultural Heritage of Himalayan region has also been increased to 10 lakh rupees per organization.
