A full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day Parade was held today in New Delhi. A colorful display of India's cultural heritage, manoeuvres by fighter aircraft and march past by armed forces was seen during the rehearsal. It also consisted of tableaux from 17 states states and six ministries. <br/><br/>These tableaux showcases varied themes starting from country's rich cultural heritage and socio-economic development to nation's progress. The parade started from Vijay Chowk and culminated at Red Fort ground. The rehearsals created traffic snarls in central Delhi, particularly in areas near India Gate. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that a large crowd gathered at Rajpath to watch the rehearsal. he tableau of Odisha depicts 'Dola Jatra', a popular festival celebrated in the state. The Maharashtra tableau depicts the commemoration of the 160th birth anniversary of Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak. Delhi's tableau portrays the transformation of School Education in the Nation, particularly the recent initiatives taken for quality enhancement in the field. <br/><br/>The theme of Haryana's tableau is based on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. The tableau of Jammu and Kashmir showcases Winter Sports at Gulmarg, a world famous tourist destination of the state. Holy shrine of Kamakhya has been beautifully portrayed through Assam's tableau. Lakshadweep tableaux will participated in the parade after 26 years and Delhi tableaux after 3 years. <br/><br/>Themes like GST, Skill India, Housing for All, Khadi India and Green India – Clean India were also part of the Parade. Other highlights of the parade include flypast by the RUDRA armed helicopter and motorcycle display by the Shwetashwa of the Corps of Military Police.
