In the presence of the noted film maker Mr Saeed Mirza the students of Film and Television Institution of India (FTII) today alleged that the organizing agency of the 46 th International Film festival of India (IFFI) are harassing the FTII students who were in Goa to attend the ongoing International film festival of India at Panaji.<br/><br/>The Students for the FTII today held a press conference in Panaji and alleged that the students of FTII has been selectively targeted by the local police. Some of the FTII students delegate registration has been cancelled by the IFFI authority.<br/><br/>The students alleged that a FTII student was picked up from the IFFI film screening venue as he was wearing a T-shirt, embossed with the words FTII. The local police took him to Panaji police station and later released him on personal bond. His Film Festival delegate registration was also cancelled, the student added.<br/><br/>The students also alleged that when they were going to watch the film at Kala Akademy yesterday ,the local police having a list of FTII students with their Film festival delegate registration number barred them to entering the film screening venue and later on the police detained them.<br/><br/>Joining the voice with the FTII students , Senior Bengali actor Dhritiman Chaterji said the government wants to close the prestigious FTII institute and raised the question over the informal dance presented by the Chief Gust Anil Kapoor during the opening ceremony for 46 International Film Festival of India. <br/><br/>Two FTII students were detained by Goa Police on Friday after they chanted slogans and displayed placards during the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India. The students of FTII were booked under various charges of IPC.<br/><br/>The students of Pune based Film and Television Institute of India now decided to organize a two day long Film Festival in Panaji from 24 of this month.<br/><br/>The FTII students protest began following the appointment of Mr Gajendra Chauhan as chairman of Pune FTII. After 139 days of protest, the student resumed classes but vowed to continue opposing the appointment.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the Entertainment Society of Goa which is crucial participant in organising the festival, has made all efforts to popularize IFFI in whole of Goa. Famous Azad Maidan located in midst of Panaji and its football field have been decked up with giant screens where films of IFFI are simultaneously screened for the general public in the evening. The flicks showcased under Retrospective, Homage, Focus Country and 'Womenclature' are also drawing huge interest amongst film buffs. Now a days there is only one language which binds every film lover at IFFI transcending his cast, creed and country which is language of films itself.
