FTII row: I&B team arrives in Pune, raises hopes of resolution

A three-member team of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has arrived in Pune, raising hopes of a possible resolution of the impasse at the Film and Television Institute of India where the students' strike for removal of TV actor and BJP member Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman entered the 71st day.<br/><br/>Appointment of Gajendra Chauhan is not only issue in FTII now central issue between striking students and I&B ministry is the assessment of the 40 students belonging to 2008 batch which has been pending for last two years.<br/><br/>Gherao of Director was on this issue after which he registered Police complaint which led to the arrest of 5 students. The Ministry has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Registrar of News Papers S M Khan after this incidence. Committee will submit its report to the Ministry. <br/><br/>While talking with reporters after arrival in Pune Mr Khan said that "We have come with an open mind. The committee members will be talking to the faculty, non-teaching staff, students and the Director today.
