There is no indications of an immediate end to FTII deadlock over appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as its Chairman even as agitating students today held one more round of talks with the government. The students, who have been demanding removal of Chauhan and four society members of FTII, held 5th round of talks with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in New Delhi.

During the discussion, the Minister reiterated government's commitment in establishing FTII as an Institution of national excellence with adequate infrastructure. He also reiterated that government's commitment to ensure academic and creative freedom in the institute.

However, Col. Rathore expressed concern over the non-compliance of course schedule and asked for greater interaction between the administration and students for suggesting ways for keeping timelines. Talking to reporters, Col. Rathore said the it was discussed in the meeting, how the 2008 and 2011 batches have still not been able to complete their courses.

When asked whether there was any discussion about the contentious appointment of Chauhan, Col. Rathore claimed that the issue was not contentious. He said the FTII society was constituted after consulting all the members and the composition was acceptable to everyone.
