The Governing Council of Film and Television Institute of India – FTII has approved various proposals to streamline the institute's courses and its content. The council met in Mumbai today and approved a proposal envisaging setting up of nine different schools under the aegis of FTII, which will offer 22 courses. <br/><br/>The proposal drawn up by FTII's Academic Council, headed by the noted filmmaker and television producer B P Singh has also suggested short-term courses in music composing, animation and gaming, prosthetics and make up, costume design etc, besides core subjects like direction, cinematography, acting, editing and sound design. <br/> '<br/>The Governing Council also approved the new syllabus with an aim to finish the courses in a time-bound manner. The institute will also introduce Choice Based Credit System which would replace the present system of annual assessment. <br/> '<br/>In an effort to make FTII a holistic institute of cinema, television and allied arts, the governing council today also approved the vision document of FTII, which proposes to switch from teacher centric approach to learning centric approach. I&B Secretary, Mr Ajay Mittal was a special invitee for this meeting chaired by FTII Chairman Gajendra Chauhan.
