Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said, the fruits of demonetization has begun to flow as evident from falling interest rates on home and other loans. Addressing media in Chennai, he said money flow situation is improving now and will continue to do so in future. He termed demonetization as the first ever bold step since independence against black money and corruption. Mr Venkaiah Naidu said the war to cleanse the financial system by the Narendra Modi Government is to honour the promise made by the BJP to the people ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.<br/><br/>The Information and Broadcasting Minister questioned the Congress what steps it took against black money and corruption when it was in power for over 50 years. He charged the party of institutionalizing black money and blamed it of putting on cold storage the Wanchoo Committee report on demonetization and the Supreme Court direction to institute a Special Investigation Team against black money.<br/><br/>Mr Venkaiah Naidu said the demonetization move has brought all high value currencies back to circulation through banking system and widened the tax base bringing enhanced revenue. He promised that it will result in reduced tax rates and honest tax payers and common public would benefit.<br/><br/>When asked about the Tamil Nadu political situation where demands are being made for elevating AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala as the chief minister, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said it is an internal affairs of the ruling party. He clarified that the incumbent Mr O.Panneerselvam has been earlier named as the chief minister in the interregnum when late chief minister Jayalalithaa was alive and was elected as the AIADMK Legislature Party leader by the MLAs after her demise, and therefore the Centre came forward to extend him support.<br/><br/> Mr Panneerselvam requires time to be assessed about his administrative and leadership qualities, Mr Naidu said and added, any demand for change of guard is to be left to the party concerned. While responding to a query, he replied, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Thambidurai could have avoided issuing his statement to elevate the VK Sasikala to the chief ministerial chair in his official letter pad. While replying to another question, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said, he saw no reason to doubt the version of the doctors on the line of treatment given to late chief minister J.Jayalalithaa. He pointed out that a doctor from the UK, three specialists form the AIIMS, New Delhi and physiotherapists from Singapore were also involved in the treatment.
