Fresh landslides in Uttarakhand disrupt pilgrimage to Badrinath

In Uttarakhand, fresh landslides triggered by rains today disrupted the pilgrimage to Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Meanwhile moderate to heavy rains continued to lash most parts of the state. Met department predicts that heavy rain may occur at some places in next 24 hours. More from our correspondent.According to reports a large number of yatris on Rishikesh-Badrinath route were stranded following a number of landslides, which damaged the road. Efforts are on to clear the road but inclement weather is hampering the work. Whereas Gangotri and yamunotri national highway were disrupted after landslips and rock-falls in Uttarkashee. Meanwhile in Nainital Gola River is flowing above the danger mark. People are suffering due to damage to Nainital-Kaladhungi road. In Udhamsingh Nagar district authorities rescued flood affected villagers in Shaktifarm area. Rain also lashed the state capital Dehradun. This has resulted in water logging at some places.
