Fresh FIRs against former DGP Rathore on basis of complaints by Ruchika's family

The Haryana police has registered two fresh FIRs against former DGP SPS Rathore, on the basis of complaints by Ruchika's father Subhash Chander Girhotra and her brother Ashu, regarding alleged tampering of the post-mortem report by police, and harassment of Ashu, including attempt to murder him. Moves are also afoot to file a fresh case of abetment of suicide. Parallely, the Union Home and Law Ministries are also considering appealing against the trial court's verdict in the case, to seek enhanced punishment for Rathore. Former Haryana DGP Rathore, who got away lightly with six months' imprisonment for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, who committed suicide later, now faces the possibility of arrest and stiffer punishment if found guilty of abetment of suicide charge.<br/>
