Country erupted into frenzied celebrations after the Indian cricket team defeated arch rivals Pakistan in the Semi Final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and entered the Final. Fans bursted firecrackers, distributed sweets and danced on the streets till the wee hours of the morning. In Delhi, fans took the streets, including the iconic India Gate at the stroke of midnight and lit up the sky with firecrackers. A festive atmosphere prevailed in Mumbai, which will host the final clash with Sri Lanka on Saturday, as also other parts of the country. The high-voltage match was watched by the Prime Ministers of the two countries. The Pakistani Media has said that the get together brought about by cricket should serve to revive Indo-Pak dialogue so rudely shattered by the Mumbai attacks. Meanwhile, for the final match in Mumbai between Srilanka and India the Srilankan President Mahinda Rajapakse is coming to Mumbai. President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil will also be present in the stadium to witness the first all Asian World Cup Final on Saturday. The Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly on Thursday congratulated Indian cricket team for its win in the world cup semi final at Mohali last night. As soon as the proceedings of the House began, the Speaker Ishwardas Rohani said that the Indian cricket team lived up to the expectations of the people. The House then offered good wishes to the team for their success in the world cup final to be played at Mumbai. The members expressed the hope that the team would bag the world cup to add to the pride of the country.
