French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko crashes out; Nadal, Federer and Karolina Pliskova progress

In Tennis, this year's French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko has crashed out of the US Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, in New York. In the third round, the 12th seeded Latvian was stunned by an unseeded Russian Daria Kasatkina in straight sets, 3-6, 2-6. Tenth placed Agnieszka Radwanska also made an exit. However, top seeds Karolina Pliskova and Rafael Nadal, this year's Wimbledon and Australian Open champion Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem and Juan Martin del Potro were among those who progressed to the pre-quarterfinals.In Women's Doubles, the fourth seeded Indo-Chinese team of Sania Mirza and Shuai Peng advanced to the Round-of-16 with a win over the Slovakian duo of Jana Cepelova and Magdalena Rybarikova. In Mixed Doubles, Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian team-mate Gabriela Dabrowski also made it to the pre-quarterfinals.
